Quick Vanilla Ice Cream

The classic vanilla ice cream made easy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 x 600ml cartons vanilla custard
  • 2 x 300 ml cartons thickened cream
  • 2 teaspoons gelatine
  • 1 tablespoon boiling water

METHOD

  1. Mix custard and cream together. Dissolve gelatine in a boiling water stirring until dissolved. Gently stir into custard and cream mixture.
  2. Put into ice-cream trays and freeze until partially set 2.5cm around edges. Place in a chilled bowl and beat until thick and creamy and increased in volume.
  3. Return to ice-cream trays and freeze until firm. Allow to soften slightly before serving.

HANDY TIPS

Vanilla ice cream can be flavoured by adding one of the following: Chopped peppermint crisp bar, Chopped chocolate honeycomb bar, M&M's, Chopped canned apricots, Seasonal berries, Glace ginger and honey
