Pizza Tea-Ring

Serves 6


  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 cup wholemeal self raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon Australian butter
  • 3/4 cup Australian skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 6 slices salami, diced
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 cup grated Australian mozzarella cheese

  1. Sift together the flours. Rub in butter. Mix in milk to form a soft dough. Knead lightly on floured board and roll out to a rectangle 40cm x 25cm. Spread dough with tomato paste then sprinkle remaining ingredients over the dough. Starting with one long edge, roll dough as for a Swiss Roll, enclosing the filling. Brush ends with a little water and form the roll into a circle, joining ends. Place onto a buttered baking tray. Slice roll into 2-3cm widths but do not slice right through leaving centre of the ring joined. Using a small knife, lift each slice and turn slightly so the cut side faces up. Brush with extra skim milk. Bake at 180C for 25-30 minutes. Serve hot or cold with a tossed salad.
