This recipe was developed for school canteens, but may be adapted for home use, a delicious and easy variation to the classic toasty!

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 small foccacia, Turkish or normal rolls
  • ¾ cup salt reduced tomato paste
  • 10 slices reduced fat ham
  • 1 red or green capsicum, finely sliced
  • 1 x 400g can pineapple pieces in juice, drained
  • 3 cups (400g) grated reduced fat mozzarella cheese
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano

METHOD

  1. Split rolls and spread each side with tomato paste then fill with remaining ingredients.
  2. Place panini in pie warmer for 15 minutes until warm and melted, alternatively cook in a sandwich press until toasted .

HANDY TIPS

Tip: For more adventurous eaters try adding olives or sliced mushrooms to this Panini. For a Pizza Jaffle, substitute rolls for wholemeal bread and toast in a jaffle maker.
