Orange Ginger Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup Australian milk powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 125g Australian butter
  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. Combine flour, milk powder, brown sugar, ginger and allspice together in a bowl. Place butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan and heat until butter is melted. Add orange rind, juice and egg. Pour into dry ingredients and stir lightly until just combined. Spoon into a well buttered 10 x 18cm loaf pan. Bake at 180C for 1 hour. Turn out and allow to cool before slicing.
