Ingredients

  • 40g Australian butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups Australian milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup grated Australian mozzarella cheese
  • 50g Australian butter, extra
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 500g beef mince
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 x 400g can peeled tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup hot beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour, extra
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 6 mushrooms, sliced
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 12 lasagne sheets, cooked
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs

Method

  1. In a large microwave jug, melt the butter on High (100%) for 1 minute. Stir in the flour. Gradually blend in the milk to form a smooth paste. Cook on High (100%) for 6-8 minutes or until thickened, stirring continuously. Add nutmeg and cheese, beat until smooth. Combine extra butter, onion and garlic in a large bowl. Cover and cook on High (100%) for 3 minutes. Add the beef mince, cover and cook on High (100%) for 3 minutes, or until browned. Add remaining ingredients, except the lasagne sheets and mixed herbs, cover and cook on High (100%) for a further 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Alternately layer cheese sauce, cooked lasagne sheets and meat sauce - finishing with cheese sauce. Sprinkle with mixed herbs, and cook on Medium (50%) for 10 minutes. Stand, covered with foil for a further 15 minutes.
