Creamed Rice with Stewed Fruit

Serves 2 adults and 2 children


  • 1 litre Australian Milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup short grain rice, washed and drained
  • stewed fruit, for serving

  1. 1. Combine milk, sugar and vanilla essence in heavy-based saucepan and bring to the boil.
  2. 2. Add rice, reduce heat, cover with a tightly fitting lid and simmer very gently, for 50 minutes or until almost all milk has been absorbed. Stir occasionally.
  3. 3. Serve with stewed fruit in individual bowls or glasses.

Tips / Handy Hints

Kids will love their own special serving. We served this recipe with stewed apple and rhubarb.
