Chick Pea Dippers

Serves 10


  • 3/4 cup/150g chick peas
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups roughly chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup unprocessed bran
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
  • few drops sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Australian butter or ghee
  • 1/2 cup Australian low fat natural yogurt
  • 1/4 cup carbohydrate-modified fruit chutney

  1. Soak chick peas in water for 24 hours. Drain and replace water. Cover and simmer 2-3 hours or until soft enough to mash and all water is absorbed. Cook onions and garlic in a non-stick pan. Place chick peas, onion and garlic in processor and blend until smooth. Add lemon juice, bran, coriander, soy sauce and sesame oil. Blend until well combined. Form into walnut-sized balls. Melt butter or ghee and fry balls until browned on all sides. Serve with yogurt dipping sauce. Combine yogurt and chutney for sauce. Makes 30 balls.
