  • 90g Australian ghee
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1/2 red pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 250g minced topside steak
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup grated Australian cheddar cheese
  • 1 x 740g packet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame seeds

  1. Melt 60g ghee in a saucepan and saute onion, garlic, curry powder and red pepper for 3-4 minutes. Add water chestnuts, topside and tomato paste and cook for 8-10 minutes until the meat is well browned. Stir in the cheese. Cut out twenty pastry rounds using a 10cm fluted cutter. Brush edges with the remaining 30g melted ghee. Place a tablespoon of meat mixture onto each pastry round. Fold each pastry round in half and press the edges together to enclose the filling. Place onto a baking tray, brush with ghee and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 200C for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
