Cheddar Wheat Rounds

Makes 8 wedges


  • 2 cups wholemeal self raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • 2 tablespoons Australian butter
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup Australian milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Australian matured cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

  1. Combine flour and seasonings. Rub in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add onion. Mix to a soft dough with milk. Knead lightly on floured board to form a ball. Place on a buttered baking tray. Press out with the palm of the hand to an 18cm circle. Mark into 8 wedges by pressing the back of a knife halfway through the dough. Sprinkle with cheese and sesame seeds. Bake at 200oC for 25 minutes. Break into wedges. Split while hot and spread with butter.
