Caramel Dumplings


  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup Australian milk powder
  • 40g Australian butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 20g Australian butter
  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1 cup water

  1. Sift flour, sugar and milk powder together in a bowl. Rub in butter until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Make a well in the centre and blend in water to make a soft dough. Knead lightly on a floured board. Divide mixture into 12 and roll into balls. Place in a 23cm round pyrex dish. For the syrup, place all ingredients in a small saucepan and gently bring to the boil. Pour over dumplings and bake at 200C for 30 minutes.
