Right now, approximately 63 per cent of Australian adults are overweight or obese and at risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer. But it’s not too late to do something about it.
There are many reasons to choose a healthy diet and start getting enough physical activity now. It will help you sleep better give you more energy, reduce the risk of depression and can help prevent conditions such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Dairy foods are often cut out of our diet in the mistaken belief that they’re fattening. But research shows that having enough milk, yogurt and cheese every day is not linked to weight gain.
When trying to lose weight through a calorie-controlled diet, studies show including at least three serves of milk, yogurt or cheese a day can help people lose more weight, more centimetres from the waist and more body fat compared to people who ate less dairy foods.
So there’s even more reason for you to include milk, cheese and yogurt in your diet every day.
