Dairy Australia is celebrating Australia’s most vibrant and connected regional communities in its search for Australia’s LEGENDAIRY Capital 2017.

We’re calling on people across Australia’s eight dairy regions to nominate their town for the coveted title of Australia’s LEGENDAIRY Capital, and in the process, secure funds for a worthy initiative in their community.

One town in each of Australia’s eight dairy regions will be named a regional finalist and receive $2,500 to invest in its nominated community project.

One of these eight towns will then go on to be crowned Australia’s LEGENDAIRY Capital 2017 and receive an additional grant of $7,500 towards its nominated community project.

Nominations will be judged based on the criteria outlined below. Helpful tips for each nomination can be found in the nomination checklist.

Social capital: the town’s ability to foster positive community spirit and  community connectedness

Innovation and resilience: the town’s success in overcoming challenges and embracing opportunities

The Project idea: how the town would benefit from the nominated community project

Nominations for the regional finalists will be judged by an independent panel of representatives from State Dairy Farmer Organisations across Australia.

We’ll be visiting all finalist towns to see their LEGENDAIRY spirit in action, and reporting back to the national judging committee.

The national LEGENDAIRY Capital will then be selected by a judging panel from Dairy Australia and Australian Dairyfarmers.

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) will administer all successful grants on behalf of Dairy Australia.

If you think your town should be recognised as Australia’s LEGENDAIRY Capital 2017, simply nominate your town and answer the following questions on the nomination form.
