Our Awards

We love to recognise and celebrate our people!

We’re proud to sponsor the Dairy Farmer of the Year Award, one of 11 award categories in the annual Australian Farmer of the Year program. The awards celebrate the highly professional, innovative and sustainable approach of Australia’s farmers and raise the profile of the critical role farmers play for our country.

Want to nominate yourself or a colleague for the 2014 awards? Watch this space and we’ll let you know when more information is available. Nominations open mid-year and the Australian Farmer of the Year Awards event is held in September.

2013: The Frampton Family, Tasmania

The Frampton family was named Dairy Farmer of the Year in 2013.

The Framptons, who were also Tasmanian Dairy Farmer of the Year in 2011/12, are fifth and sixth generation dairy farmers from Gawler, located on Devonport’s urban fringe.

Their ‘keep it simple’ principle particularly impressed the judges, who noted: “When so many other farms are getting bigger, more complex and high tech, the Framptons have opted for clever simplicity.

“Their main premise is low cost of productivity, especially with labour, fertiliser and weed control, but with special attention to animal health.”

2012: Grant Archer, Tasmania

In 2012, Grant Archer was recognised as the inaugural Dairy Farmer of the Year.

Together with wife Kim, Grant owns a 296ha dairy farm in Smithton on the far north-west coast of Tasmania and is also involved in share-farm partnerships in Cressy and Symmons Plains.

Grant is totally committed to dairying and to the future of the industry, working with young farmers and various discussion groups to improve efficiency as well as implement and develop new techniques and practices.

He was recognised for his innovative and inspirational approach to managing his own operations and his efforts to develop young people starting out in the industry.
