Cheeky 'best looking heifer' is Miss September
`Cheeky’ lives up to her name and as the best looking heifer in the herd she’s also the new Miss September in Legendairy’s online calendar.
Cheeky was raised by Megan Dalglish, a dairy hand for Mungalli Creek Dairy at Millaa Millaa in Far North Queensland.
The Jersey-Aussie Red cross is nicknamed Cheeky with good reason and she loves being front and centre when it comes to being in the spotlight.
“She was the friendliest heifer that I raised,” Megan said. “She always followed me around and loves pats and hugs.”
The photo was taken in October 2016 at the Mungalli dairy.
“She was the best looking heifer out of the herd that would let me take a photo so I sent it in to Legendairy,” Megan said.
“I was surprised she got picked but very pleased,” she said. “I chose September because it's the month of my sister’s birthday.”
Megan said she supports the Legendairy initiative to raise the profile and reputation of the dairy industry.
“It's a great way to promote dairy,” she said.
“I was born into the dairy industry and like everything about it. I’ve worked most of my life on dairies all over Queensland. I absolutely love dairy cows and calves and love the taste of fresh milk.”
The 2017 Legendairy online calendar is part of Dairy Australia’s celebration of the special bond Australia’s Legendairy farmers have with their animals.
